The Ten Events That Changed Humanity

I came across a website today that listed the top 10 major breakthroughs of humanity. These are the discoveries, the intellectual shifts, the reenvisioning of the world that helped us to make the quantum leaps forward over the last few thousand years.

We did a pop quiz at home and tried to guess what the list would contain. While there were some obvious inclusions that made it onto all lists, there were other suggestions that varied widely. Rather than link to the original list or give you our rundown, I thought I'd open it up to your ideas.
